Shri A. Krishnan School & College Life
Shri. A. Krishnan was born in a family of scholars and noble culture. His father, Shri. S. Aravamudhachariar, was a renowned scholar in Sanskrit, with authorship of books of rare values. His mother, Smt. Lakshmi, was a cultured lady with a flair to shape her children on proper lines.
Shri. Krishnan had his school education in a small town called Vridachalam. Based on his performance, he earned a place in prestigious Mathematics Honors’ course in the Vivekananda College, Madras, and emerged as a Gold Medalist, securing the first rank in the then University of Madras in the year 1956. Since his childhood, Shri Krishnan not only excelled in his education but also developed and demonstrated his deep respect for his parents, love for family, and devotion to Lord Rama. This attitude and devotion to Lord Rama allowed him to maintain religious and spiritual practices – in keeping with the family traditions and upbringing.
Shri A. Krishnan’s Work & Family
Shri. A. Krishnan joined the State Bank of India in the year 1958 as a Probationary Assistant, an entry considered next only to IAS in prestige, after a rigorous selection process. During his two years’ probation, he was trained in all segments of banking that set the stage for his career growth in the bank. Immediately after probation, Shri. Krishnan was posted in Madurantakam, his native place, where his forefathers had lived with great distinction as scholars. This is also the place where Lord Rama is the presiding deity about whom he had the honor and privilege of writing four books.
Shri. Krishnan married Smt. Revathi in the year 1960. Smt. Revathi was born and raised in Manamadurai, near the city of Madurai. Likewise, Smt. Revathi also grew up in a noble and cultured family and was trained in all aspects of being a successful and supportive woman. She provided admirable support to Shri. Krishnan, caring for and raising the family, and providing care for the elders; it was this support that had a major impact on Shri. Krishnan’s career growth at State Bank of India.
After a series of successful stints in the leadership of the bank, Shri. Krishnan was promoted and posted as the Managing Director of State Bank of Mysore in the year 1993. This posting turned about to be the jewel in his crown; during his successful sting here, State Bank of Mysore was adjudged as the best public sector bank by a leading magazine. He retired from the bank in the year 1996.

Shri. Krishnan took up writing post his retirement in the same year and this can be attributed entirely due to the traditions and practices he was taught during his childhood days and following the footsteps of his father and grandfather. His first book in English was titled SRIMAD VALMIKI RAMAYANAM and turned out to be a truthful reproduction of the original text. His next attempt was in Tamil and it dealt with serious and detailed analysis of the twelve characters of Ramayana titled RAMAYANA THOOMANIGAL. In view of the positive reviews and the reception that this book received, it was later translated to English for wider national and international audience with the title PURE GEMS OF RAMAYANA and was published by Partidge Publishing. Shri. Krishnan wrote two more books in Tamil namely, MAHABARATHIL KRISHNAN, presenting the entire role of Lord Krishna in the great epic Mahabaratham and other one offering detailed commentaries on the 375 verses of Kamba Ramayanam.
The legacy of Shri. Krishnan continues even after his passing away in 2021 and will continue to be so forever.
